Clinical Herbal Consultation in Puerto Rico
Personalized guidance to help you understand your health through an integrative approach grounded in medicinal plants, scientific evidence, tradition, and education.
Every person has a different story, a different body, and different needs. That's why a Clinical Herbal Consultation never begins with a plant. It begins by listening.
At Semilla Creciente, we believe that understanding your health is the first step toward making informed decisions. Our role is to help you explore how medicinal plants may support your well-being in a safe, personalized, and responsible way, always taking into consideration your health history, medications, lifestyle, and goals.
A Consultation Is About Much More Than an Herbal Recommendation
Many people come looking for “the best tea” or “the right plant” for a specific symptom. However, a single plant rarely tells the whole story.
Our approach begins by understanding the person before the symptom. We talk about your health, your circumstances, your concerns, and what you hope to improve. From there, we consider whether medicinal plants may offer appropriate support and how they might be integrated safely into your everyday life.
We don't seek to replace medical care when it is needed, nor do we offer quick or one-size-fits-all solutions. We believe the best recommendations come from listening carefully, understanding the bigger picture, and creating a realistic plan that you can follow with confidence.
Every consultation is also an opportunity to learn. We want you to understand why a plant is being recommended, how to use it responsibly, and what to expect from it. Our goal is not simply to prepare a botanical formula, but to help you develop a more conscious and informed relationship with your own health.
Is This Consultation Right for You?
Medicinal plants can be part of the everyday care of many people, but every situation is different. This consultation is designed for people who want individualized guidance grounded in evidence and adapted to their circumstances.
Digestive Health and General Well-Being
If you experience slow digestion, reflux, gas, intestinal discomfort, or simply want to strengthen your wellness habits, we can explore herbal options that may complement your care in a safe and realistic way.
Sleep, Stress, and the Nervous System
If everyday stress, difficulty sleeping, or a persistent sense of exhaustion is affecting your quality of life, we can evaluate herbal strategies that may be incorporated into your routines for rest and self-care.
Hormonal Health
Many people seek consultation during menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, or different stages of their reproductive lives. Every experience is unique, so recommendations always take your health history, symptoms, and personal goals into consideration.
Safe Use of Medicinal Plants
If you take medications, have complex health conditions, or simply want to know which plants may be appropriate for you, we will review potential interactions, contraindications, and safety considerations before recommending any herbal preparation.
Children and Families
Many parents and caregivers seek guidance on using medicinal plants to support their children's well-being. In these situations, we pay particular attention to safety, age, health history, and any existing medical treatment.
Natural Health Professionals
Midwives, doulas, therapists, naturopaths, lactation consultants, and other professionals also seek consultation to deepen their knowledge or develop safer, better-informed herbal strategies for the people they support.
Although Tamara Trinidad González is also a professional midwife, this consultation is not limited to pregnancy or the postpartum period. It is open to anyone who wants to incorporate medicinal plants into a responsible, personalized, and evidence-informed approach to their well-being.
What Happens During a Clinical Herbal Consultation?
Each consultation is designed to provide the time, attention, and context needed to understand your situation as a whole. We don't follow a predetermined formula or make rushed recommendations. Every person deserves to be heard, and every plan is developed according to their individual needs.
Among other things, we'll ask about:
-
Your health history and previous diagnoses.
-
The medications, supplements, and medicinal plants you currently use.
-
Your primary symptoms and concerns.
-
Your habits around food, sleep, movement, and stress management.
-
The goals you hope to achieve through the consultation.
1. Before Your Appointment
Once you schedule your consultation, you'll receive a health history form. This questionnaire allows us to learn more about your situation before we meet and make the most of our time together.
2. Reviewing Your Health History
Before our conversation, Tamara takes time to carefully review all the information you provide. This preparation helps identify important aspects of your health history, assess potential interactions between plants and medications, and prepare for the consultation more thoroughly.
We believe a good recommendation begins long before we talk about a plant. It begins by studying the person.
3. Our Conversation
The consultation lasts approximately one hour and can take place in person at our space in Guaynabo or by video call if you are elsewhere in Puerto Rico or outside the island.
During this time, we'll talk about your health, answer your questions, and explore different strategies to support your well-being. We'll discuss not only medicinal plants, but also everyday habits, nutrition, rest, and other factors that may influence your situation.
This is also a space for learning. If you have questions about a specific plant, a potential interaction with medication, or simply want to better understand how certain botanical preparations work, we'll take the time to discuss them with you.
4. Your Personalized Plan
At the end of your consultation, you'll receive recommendations tailored to your particular situation. Depending on your needs, these may include changes to wellness habits, suggestions for the responsible use of medicinal plants, and a botanical preparation formulated specifically for you.
The consultation includes a personalized preparation, which may be a tincture, medicinal tea blend, or another herbal formulation depending on what is most appropriate for your situation. If you later wish to incorporate additional products, we will always discuss them with you first so that you can make an informed decision.
5. Follow-Up When Needed
For some people, one consultation is enough. Others benefit from longer-term support to adjust formulas, address new questions, or adapt recommendations as their circumstances change.
If we believe a follow-up could be valuable to your process, we'll discuss it with you and decide together when it would make sense to meet again.
Our goal is not for you to become dependent on one consultation after another. Our goal is to provide the tools, knowledge, and support you need to make informed decisions about your well-being with greater confidence.
Our Approach
Every recommendation we make comes from a philosophy that guides everything we do at Semilla Creciente. These principles are present in our consultations, our shop, our workshops, and our understanding of Herbalism.
Safety First
Safety is the starting point of every consultation. Before recommending any medicinal plant, we consider your health history, medications, potential interactions, stage of life, and the available evidence.
Tradition and Evidence
We deeply value traditional knowledge about medicinal plants and recognize the importance of continuing to study it in light of contemporary research. Our work seeks to build bridges between these worlds through respect, critical thinking, and continuous learning.
Education
We believe that understanding the reasons behind a recommendation is just as important as the recommendation itself. That's why we take time during every consultation to explain, answer questions, and share knowledge.
Personalization
There are no universal formulas. Two people with similar lives may need completely different approaches. Every recommendation is adapted to the person in front of us, not simply to the symptom they are experiencing.
Responsibility
Trust comes with responsibility. We are committed to continuing our education, working with integrity, and recognizing both the potential and the limitations of medicinal plants. Our goal is never to promise extraordinary solutions, but to support you with honesty, knowledge, and care.
In-Person Consultation in Guaynabo or Virtual Consultation From Anywhere
You have two options:
-
In-person consultation in our space in Guaynabo, which includes our herbal shop, tincture preparation area, and consultation office.
-
Virtual consultation by video call, ideal if you live farther away, have transportation limitations, or prefer to connect from home.
Both formats provide the same level of attention, assessment, and recommendations. If you are outside Puerto Rico, we'll discuss which product and shipping options may be available to you.
Investment and Sliding Scale
The standard investment for a Herbal Consultation is $75, which includes:
-
Review of your health history form
-
Your one-hour consultation
-
One personalized herbal preparation
We believe herbal medicine should be accessible, which is why we offer a sliding scale inspired by “The Green Bottle.”
If your financial circumstances are limited, you can indicate this on the booking form. Options within a solidarity-based sliding scale will be offered according to your financial situation and availability at the time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Herbal Consultations
1. Does the consultation replace my doctor or specialist?
No. An herbal consultation is a complement to—not a replacement for—medical care. We do not provide medical diagnoses or instruct you to stop taking medications. We work with you to consider how medicinal plants may fit safely within your existing medical care.
2. Can you tell me what dosage of my medications to take?
No. Any changes to medication must be made with your doctor. What we can do is identify potential interactions with medicinal plants and help you have a more informed conversation with your healthcare provider.
3. Do you work with children and adolescents?
Yes. We work with parents and caregivers who want to support their children's health with safe herbal approaches. In these cases, we always request clear information about previous diagnoses and prescribed medications.
4. What if I don't know exactly what is wrong? I just know I don't feel well.
You don't need to arrive with a perfect diagnosis. During the consultation, we explore your main symptoms, emotional context, and daily habits to identify where to begin and what type of herbal support may make the most sense.
5. Can I have a consultation if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes, but we always prioritize safety. We use plants with an appropriate safety profile for these stages and avoid those without sufficient evidence of safety.
6. How long does the preparation included with the consultation last?
It depends on the type of preparation and the recommended frequency of use. During your consultation, we'll explain approximately how long it should last and when it may be useful to consider a follow-up.
7. How often do you recommend follow-up consultations?
In many cases, an initial consultation followed by a follow-up in 4–8 weeks is enough to adjust doses and formulas. For more chronic conditions, longer-term support may be helpful. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
