Where Plants, Birth, and Knowledge Meet
Semilla Creciente brings together professional midwifery, knowledge of medicinal plants, and education through an approach to care grounded in respect, curiosity, and responsibility.
We honor knowledge that has been preserved within our communities over time while also valuing research, professional training, critical thinking, and collaboration.
We believe that caring also means learning.
Two Paths of Care and Learning
Midwifery
Midwifery is a profession dedicated to care during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, with an approach centered on education, autonomy, and well-being.
At Semilla Creciente, we provide individualized care and support so that each person can understand their options and actively participate in decisions about their care.

Herbalism
Herbalism invites us to learn about medicinal plants, their traditional uses, and the relationships people have developed with them over time.
At Semilla Creciente, we study and share this knowledge through tradition, observation, education, and continuous learning, recognizing both what we know and what we still need to understand.

Two Disciplines. One Philosophy of Care.
For us, tradition and evidence do not have to be in opposition.
We can learn from the knowledge our communities have preserved, ask questions, investigate, recognize our limitations, and continue learning.
Our approach brings together:
Education
We share clear information to help people understand their options.
Tradition
We respect the knowledge and practices that are part of our communities and our history.
Evidence
We value research and distinguish between what we know, what appears promising, and what still needs to be studied.
Experience
We learn from practice, from people, and from the relationships we build over time.
Responsibility
We recognize our limitations and the importance of collaborating with other professionals when needed.
Many Paths in Learning
Behind Semilla Creciente is Tamara Trinidad González, whose work brings together midwifery, herbalism, education, advocacy, and community work.
Her story is not divided into separate professions. Each path of learning has shaped the way she understands care, knowledge, and responsibility toward people and community.
Our Space in Guaynabo
Our space in Guaynabo is where Semilla Creciente's work comes together: a place to connect with medicinal plants, ask questions, learn, and access both midwifery and herbal consultations.
The space includes our shop as well as offices for appointments and consultations.
Here, you can find medicinal plants, herbal preparations, and other resources while learning more about our work and the ways you can participate in the community.
We don't want plants to be simply products on a shelf.
We want them to have context: where they come from, how they have traditionally been used, how they are prepared, and what we should consider when using them.

Knowledge Is Also a Form of Care
Learning allows us to ask better questions, understand our options, and participate more consciously in decisions related to our well-being.
That's why education is part of everything we do.

Caring Also Means Being Responsible
Plants don't begin in a bottle, nor do they end when someone takes a preparation home.
Their story includes the land, the seeds, the people who grow them, the ecosystems where they live, the pollinators, and the people who have preserved knowledge about them.
For Semilla Creciente, care also means responsibility: toward knowledge, plants, people, our community, and the generations that will come after us.

A Living Tradition in Puerto Rico
uerto Rico has a deep relationship with its plants, landscapes, and the knowledge communities have developed around them.
Preserving that knowledge does not mean freezing it in the past.
It means listening to it, studying it, sharing it responsibly, and allowing it to continue evolving.
Semilla Creciente seeks to contribute to a culture in which plants are known and respected, knowledge is shared, and communities have access to information that helps them make more informed decisions.
